Reporting to: Regional Director with dotted line reporting to Manager (Finance and Accounts), Bangalore
Position based at Gangtok, Sikkim with periodic field visits

Responsibilities

To provide finance and administration support to the ATREE Regional Office, Eastern Himalaya, located at Gangtok, Sikkim.

  1. Financial
    • To maintain accounts in the prescribed format for all expenses incurred by the Regional Office, as well as the projects implemented by ATREE in Sikkim
    • To prepare monthly expenses report accordingly to the prescribed ATREE format and submit to the Bangalore office after consulting and approval of the Regional Director
    • To prepare monthly budgets for the Regional Office as well as the project budgets in consultation with the researchers, Fellows and the regional budget.
    • To ensure the timely payment of all the utilities bill as well as costs incurred by the office and project staff.
  2. Administration:
    • To assist in the procurement of assets, equipment, stationery and all other office and project requirements
    • To maintain and update the inventory of assets present in the office as well as in the project offices.
    • To facilitate and coordinate with all government departments (for appointments and permits), business outlets, hotels, restaurants and other service providers that come in contact with the office
    • To assist in the arrangement and coordination of logistics for the Regional Office as well as visitors of the office
    • To maintain a filing system for all the correspondence and important documentation of the office and projects
    • To oversee the overall safety and cleanliness of the office
    • To oversee the proper use of the office vehicles to ensure that the staff and researchers have access to the facility
  3. Support functions
    • To support the staff of the Regional Office and projects in all administrative and financial matters
    • To share with staff and colleagues financial and administrative good practices
  4. Supervisory functions
    Will supervise the drivers and the office support staff in their various duties

Minimum qualifications

  • B. Com, preferably with specialization in Accountancy
  • At least 3 years experience in Finance and Administration position in non-government and private institutions
  • Skills and abilities:
    • computer literacy is mandatory
    • sound knowledge of Accounting systems
    • fluency in English will be preferred
    • knowledge and experience of using accounting software will be an advantage
